BTO Hosts Gaborone City Tour for Newly Appointed Botswana Envoys. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) hosted a guided city tour in Gaborone on Tuesday for newly appointed Botswana envoys, offering them an opportunity to experience the capital’s cultural, heritage, and tourism attractions firsthand.
The tour followed the envoys’ participation in the Induction Programme for Newly Appointed Botswana Envoys and formed part of BTO’s broader efforts to strengthen tourism diplomacy. Through such initiatives, the organisation aims to equip diplomats with a deeper understanding of the stories, products, and experiences that define Botswana as a travel destination.
During the city tour, the envoys visited Bonnington Farm and were driven past notable landmarks, including Mafitlhakgosi Restaurant in Old Naledi, Thapong Visual Arts Centre, and the Three Chiefs Monument. Each stop highlighted a distinct aspect of Botswana’s cultural identity, creativity, and community heritage, providing the envoys with tangible insights into the country’s diverse offerings.
BTO emphasised that the tour is intended to give envoys practical knowledge that will support their diplomatic work abroad, enhance destination advocacy, and contribute to raising Botswana’s profile in international tourism markets. The organisation aims to ensure that diplomats can confidently represent the country and its attractions while promoting Botswana as a diverse and competitive tourism destination.
As the envoys prepare to take up their postings, BTO extended its best wishes and reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with diplomatic representatives in positioning Botswana as a compelling choice for travellers worldwide.
