Health Ministry Orders Fresh Recall of Iwisa Mageu Products Over Contamination Concern. The Ministry of Health has announced a recall of specific Iwisa Mabele Mageu products following the detection of a foreign substance, marking the second recall involving the brand within a year.A
According to the ministry, the latest recall affects both the 1 litre and 500 millilitre packs from batch IW RM3211. The products were manufactured on 24 October 2025 and carry a best before date of 11 February 2026. The action was taken after a black, jelly like substance was reportedly discovered in a unit at a retail outlet in the Mahalapye District.
Authorities have advised consumers who may have purchased products from the affected batch not to consume them. Instead, customers are encouraged to return the items to the store where they were bought in order to receive a full refund. No additional consumer guidance was included in the notice.
The ministry has also directed retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and suppliers to immediately remove the affected products from sale. Businesses in the supply chain have been instructed to work closely with local authorities to ensure the recalled stock is handled appropriately.
This development follows a previous recall involving Iwisa Mabele Mageu in February 2025. That recall applied to a 500 millilitre batch identified as RM2881, which was withdrawn from the market due to product discolouration.
The Ministry of Health has not indicated whether the two incidents are linked. The current recall notice focuses specifically on the identified batch and the presence of the foreign substance. Further updates are expected to depend on ongoing assessments related to the affected products and distribution channels.
