Bogolo Kenewendo Included in 2026 List of Africa’s 100 Most Reputable Leaders. Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Kenewendo, has been named among the 100 Most Reputable Africans for 2026, an annual recognition that highlights leaders whose public influence is rooted in integrity, trust, and measurable impact.
Kenewendo’s inclusion follows a year in which she played a central role in developments within Botswana’s minerals sector. In 2025, she led the conclusion of the 10-year diamond agreement between Botswana and De Beers, a milestone that reshaped elements of the country’s diamond value chain and reinforced national interests. Her ministerial portfolio has also focused on energy security, diversification of the energy mix, and long-term sustainability planning.
Beyond her role in government, Kenewendo is also known for her work in social advocacy. She is the founder of the Molaya Kgosi Trust, an initiative that focuses on youth and women empowerment. Her recognition on the 2026 list reflects both individual leadership and Botswana’s broader reputation for governance and stewardship of strategic national assets.
The 100 Most Reputable Africans list is produced by the Global Reputation Forum in partnership with Reputation Poll International. It is described as a benchmark of trust rather than a measure of fame or wealth, recognising individuals whose leadership and conduct demonstrate credibility, accountability, and ethical decision-making.
According to the organisers, reputation is defined by actions taken under pressure, values upheld in challenging circumstances, and service delivered without certainty of recognition. Inclusion on the list is not permanent and reflects an ongoing responsibility to uphold public trust.
The 2026 list spans a wide range of sectors, including governance, enterprise, science, culture, media, sport, and civil society, reflecting Africa’s diversity across regions and generations. Honourees include figures such as Egyptian-British cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Magdi Yacoub and Nigeria’s Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom, Olori Atuwatse III.
The full list of the 100 Most Reputable Africans 2026 is published in alphabetical order and is available through the official Reputation Poll International platform.
