Nthoppa Introduced to Market Through Community Activation in Ramotswa. Nthoppa officially launched through a community activation held at Ramotswa Kgotla, where residents from Ramotswa and surrounding villages gathered for the introduction of the new fintech platform on 11 December 2025.

The launch marked Nthoppa’s entry into the market as a fintech company supported by the Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub under its Acceleration Programme. The event served as the first public activation for the platform, with Ramotswa identified as the starting point for community engagement.

Nthoppa is positioned as a Pan African digital financial platform aimed at addressing financial exclusion. The platform is designed to support individuals operating outside the formal economy, including rural communities, informal workers and micro entrepreneurs, by providing accessible digital financial tools.

According to information shared at the launch, Nthoppa focuses on helping users budget effectively, save responsibly, avoid financial scams, use digital services with confidence and make informed financial decisions. The platform is structured to support both personal financial management and small business financial welfare.

A defining feature of Nthoppa is its human centred approach to empowerment. The platform combines financial literacy training with digital literacy and safety education, while offering access to regulated financial tools. It also incorporates a community agent model intended to provide ongoing local support, alongside a gamified rewards system designed to encourage positive financial behaviour.

The activation in Ramotswa featured participation from insurance and financial advisory consultants, including LIMA Consulting, PosoInsure, CentricSure and FirstSun Insurance. Attendees were presented with a range of insurance products affiliated with the Nthoppa platform.

The Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub indicated that the Ramotswa activation represents the first of several community engagements planned across the country. Nthoppa is available for download on the App Store and Play Store.

The initiative reflects collaboration between technology development, community engagement, and financial education within Botswana today nationally.
