Botswana Stock Exchange and Stanbic Bank Honour Top Young Investors. The Botswana Stock Exchange, in partnership with Stanbic Bank, hosted the 2025 Senior Secondary Schools Finance and Investment Competition awards ceremony this morning, recognising outstanding young investors from schools across the country. The event marked another year of growth for the national programme, which aims to strengthen financial literacy and investment awareness among students.

Participation increased significantly in 2025, with 28 schools entering the competition compared to 15 in 2024. Each participating school was tasked with managing a virtual investment portfolio valued at P100,000. Over the course of the competition, students were introduced to the fundamentals of stock market behaviour, portfolio building, risk assessment, and teamwork. The initiative is designed to help young people understand how financial decisions are made and how investments contribute to long-term economic development.

At the ceremony, three schools were announced as the 2025 national winners. Al-Nur School secured the top position, followed by Swaneng Hill School in second place and Pioneer Academy in third. All three teams were recognised for their performance, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate the simulated trading environment.

Representatives from both Stanbic Bank and the Botswana Stock Exchange emphasised the importance of equipping young people with practical financial skills. They noted that programmes of this nature help foster a generation that is better prepared to participate in and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

The competition forms part of ongoing efforts by Stanbic Bank and the Botswana Stock Exchange to promote financial literacy and youth empowerment. By providing students with exposure to real-world investment scenarios, the initiative encourages early interest in finance, savings culture, and informed decision-making.

The organisers expressed their appreciation to all participating schools and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting educational initiatives that strengthen Botswana’s future economic landscape.
