Local Entrepreneur Expands Botswana’s Manufacturing Footprint With Stainless Steel Sekiripoto Scourers. A locally manufactured household product is gaining national attention as Ofentse James, Director of Kamalanga Kasabe PTY Ltd, advances the production of Sekiripoto, a stainless-steel pot scourer designed for both domestic and commercial use. Operating from Tatisiding near Francistown, the company is contributing to Botswana’s growing manufacturing sector through a focus on durability, practicality and local value creation.

James, who holds a Diploma in Water and Environmental Engineering, has applied his technical background to develop a product that supports long-term use and reduces waste. His work is supported by Botswana’s Youth Development Fund (YDF) and business training received from the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA). He has also been involved in community and environmental initiatives, shaping his commitment to local production and responsible innovation.

Sekiripoto scourers are produced from stainless steel, offering resistance to rust and wear. The product is used in a range of settings, from household kitchens to hotels, commercial catering facilities and cleaning service operations. Its design prioritises longevity, making it a reusable option compared to disposable cleaning pads.

Kamalanga Kasabe PTY Ltd has implemented a distribution approach aimed at ensuring wide accessibility across Botswana. This includes direct door-to-door sales, stocking shelves in retail outlets, and supplying the hospitality sector. The company also serves commercial clients such as cleaning companies and other institutions that require reliable cleaning tools.

Key product features include rust-resistant stainless steel, long-lasting durability, and suitability for both domestic and industrial use. By manufacturing locally, the company aims to support job creation and expand the availability of Botswana-made cleaning products nationwide.
