Mascom Expands Digital Learning Access with Smart Classroom Project Handover in Mmathethe. Mascom has taken another significant step in advancing digital education in Botswana with the handover of its Smart Classroom Project at Ramolefhe Primary School in Mmathethe. The initiative forms part of the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility programme and reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting education through technology-driven solutions.

The Smart Classroom Project aligns with the national goal of accelerating digital learning across the country. By introducing interactive, technology-enabled learning environments, the project aims to strengthen access to STEAM-oriented education in underserved communities.

As part of the handover, outdoor kitchen structures at Ramolefhe Primary School were transformed into fully equipped digital classrooms. This development was made possible through collaboration with the Goodhope District Council. The project also includes support for Mogwalale, Kannge and Sekhutlhane Primary Schools, with the vision to expand the programme to additional communities in future.

The initiative focuses on bridging the digital divide, empowering educators with new teaching tools and strengthening learners’ exposure to modern skills. Through access to structured STEAM and robotics learning programmes, students can develop foundational abilities in creativity, coding, logical reasoning and introductory engineering.

Key components of the Smart Classroom setup include digital learning devices, interactive tools and a robotics lab fitted with Code & Go Bots for early programming practice. Learners also have access to 3D pens for creative design work and the locally developed Brainstorm Master Kit, which encourages problem-solving and hands-on construction. A structured curriculum supports both learners and teachers, while rechargeable batteries and shared charging stations provide a sustainable technology model.

The project offers long-term value to local communities by enhancing learning outcomes and improving digital readiness. Teachers receive training to help them utilise the new tools effectively, ensuring that the technology can be integrated meaningfully into classroom activities.

Mascom’s Smart Classroom Project continues to grow as an educational support pillar, strengthening digital inclusion and encouraging future-focused skills development in rural areas.
