President Boko’s International Mission Seeks to Strengthen Botswana’s Investment Ties. President Advocate Duma Boko has embarked on a strategic international working visit aimed at advancing Botswana’s investment partnerships and global economic collaboration. According to a statement from the Office of the President, the trip will cover Muscat in Oman, Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as Geneva, Switzerland, from October 19 to 29.
The visits are focused on attracting high-value investments and fostering partnerships in sectors that align with Botswana’s national development priorities. These engagements are expected to support the country’s broader economic diversification efforts and enhance its global competitiveness.
While specific investment targets were not disclosed, the emphasis on Oman, the UAE, and Switzerland underscores Botswana’s intention to connect with economies that have advanced infrastructure, strong financial sectors, and growing interest in African markets. These regions are known for their strategic role in trade, renewable energy, technology, and finance — areas that resonate with Botswana’s economic transformation agenda.
During President Boko’s absence, Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe will serve as Acting President. His temporary leadership ensures continuity in government operations while the head of state pursues international cooperation on behalf of the nation.
For Botswana’s business community, this visit signals potential new opportunities for trade, joint ventures, and foreign investment partnerships that could strengthen local industries. As global economic conditions evolve, such missions play a crucial role in positioning Botswana as a reliable and attractive destination for sustainable investment.
