Botswana’s $20 Billion Leap Toward a Smart and Sustainable Future. Botswana is setting its sights on the future with Kalahari City, also known as Zotus City — a $20 billion smart city development that promises to redefine innovation, trade, and sustainability in the region.

The ambitious project, located in the Ghanzi District, is spearheaded by the Zotus City Development Group, a subsidiary of Zotus Group International (UK). Under the leadership of CEO Davison Simango, Kalahari City envisions becoming Africa’s next economic and innovation powerhouse, integrating technology, green energy, and infrastructure into one interconnected ecosystem.

Designed as a model for smart urban living, the development will feature renewable energy systems, intelligent infrastructure, and eco-friendly architecture, aligning with Botswana’s broader sustainability goals. Plans also include a logistics and trade hub, research and innovation zones, modern healthcare and education facilities, and residential developments built on smart city principles.

Beyond its futuristic design, Kalahari City is expected to create a major socio-economic impact — over 20,000 jobs during construction and in long-term operations, providing opportunities for local contractors, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

Global interest in the project continues to grow, with support from high-profile ambassadors such as football legend Didier Drogba, alongside international investors and institutional partners. The Botswana government’s endorsement of the initiative further signals confidence in the project’s potential to diversify the economy and attract foreign investment.
