Zotus Group Unveils Pioneering Smart City Project for Ghanzi District. The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) has welcomed the announcement of an ambitious Smart City development in Ghanzi by international investment firm Zotus Group, marking a significant step toward positioning the district as a hub of innovation, sustainability, and economic transformation.
The Zotus Smart City Project, revealed during the Global Expo Botswana 2025, represents a landmark public-private partnership that aligns with Botswana’s national vision for inclusive, technology-driven development. The project aims to blend innovation with sustainability, reshaping Ghanzi’s infrastructure while unlocking new opportunities for growth and investment.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Zotus Group, the Ghanzi District Council, the Trans Kalahari Corridor, and BITC during the Expo, formalizing the start of the initiative. The signing ceremony was attended by international sports icons and Zotus Global Ambassadors Didier Drogba and Emile Heskey, underscoring the global scope and impact of the project.
Once implemented, the Smart City will integrate cutting-edge infrastructure and digital technologies to enable sustainable urban development, attract investors, and create employment opportunities for Batswana, particularly in construction, technology, and green industries.
BITC Chief Executive Officer Keletsositse Olebile reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to facilitating strategic partnerships that drive foreign direct investment, foster innovation, and strengthen Botswana’s economic competitiveness. “This collaboration exemplifies how Botswana continues to open its doors to transformative projects that create jobs, build skills, and promote long-term economic resilience,” he said.
For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and business community, the Zotus Smart City Project presents a new landscape for investment, innovation, and collaboration—positioning Ghanzi as a model for sustainable regional development.
