Botswana’s Mining Future Takes Centre Stage at Global Expo 2025. The 2025 Global Expo Botswana officially opens this week at Fairground Holdings, bringing together key industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities across multiple sectors. Among the most anticipated sessions is the panel discussion on “Mining and Critical Minerals and Their Role in Botswana’s Future,” scheduled for October 8–9 at Ditshupo Hall.
The session will feature a high-profile lineup of experts, including Mr. Bokang Thitoyamore, CEO of Naledi Mining Services; Mr. Boaz Lev, Managing Partner at HB; Chamu Mugangavari, Executive Director for Corporate & Investment Banking at Standard Chartered Bank Botswana; Mr. Nelson Nareetsile, Head of Beneficiation at Morupule Coal Mine; and Mr. Meshack Tshekedi, CEO of Botswana Oil. The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Botlhe Mokgethi, Strategy & Business Improvement Manager at Morupule Coal Mine.
The dialogue comes at a time when Botswana continues to strengthen its position as a key player in Africa’s mining value chain. As global demand for critical minerals rises—driven by the renewable energy transition and technological innovation—Botswana’s mining and energy leaders are set to deliberate on strategies for sustainable development, beneficiation, and inclusive economic growth.
The Global Expo remains the country’s premier multisectoral event, offering Botswana’s business community a platform to engage with international investors, explore new trade partnerships, and showcase innovation across industries such as mining, manufacturing, energy, and technology.
Entrepreneurs and business leaders are encouraged to attend and gain valuable insights into how Botswana can leverage its rich mineral base for long-term competitiveness and industrial diversification.
