AUEDP Launches Grant Opportunity to Boost Botswana’s SMEs. Botswana’s entrepreneurs and small businesses have been presented with a new growth opportunity through the African Union Economic Development Program (AUEDP). In collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA), the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), and the African Development Fund (ADF), the initiative is designed to accelerate the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The program provides non-repayable grants of up to USD $500,000 to qualifying enterprises. The support targets key business needs such as expanding operations, introducing new products, investing in equipment, and strengthening innovation capacity. By offering both capital and tailored support, the initiative seeks to enhance investment readiness and open pathways for long-term sustainability.

For Botswana’s business community, the benefits extend beyond funding. Participating MSMEs will have the chance to bridge operational gaps, scale confidently, create quality jobs, and strengthen their appeal to investors. The program also aligns with Botswana’s national goals of economic diversification and inclusive development.

To qualify, businesses must be 100 percent African-owned, legally registered in Botswana, and have a minimum of three months’ banking history. Startups and established SMEs across all sectors are encouraged to apply.
