Botswana Endorses Trans-Africa Tourism Campaign as Boost for Regional Business. Botswana has officially welcomed the Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign, a continental initiative designed to promote visa-free travel, regional integration, and cross-border collaboration across Africa.

The campaign, spearheaded by Ghanaian former Member of Parliament Ras Mubarak, is a 163-day journey covering 40,000 kilometres across 39 countries. Botswana marks the delegation’s 11th stop on this ambitious road tour.

Speaking on behalf of President Advocate Duma Boko, Minister for State President Mr Moeti Mohwasa commended the initiative, highlighting its alignment with Botswana’s long-term vision for regional cooperation. “Your journey is a demonstration of what is possible when Africans come together to break down borders and promote a visa-free Africa,” he said.

For Botswana’s tourism and business sectors, the campaign carries particular relevance. Easier movement across African borders has the potential to create new growth opportunities for tourism operators, hospitality businesses, logistics companies, and small enterprises reliant on regional trade.

Mr Mubarak applauded Botswana’s leadership in both tourism and conservation, recognising the country as a critical partner in building a more interconnected Africa. “A connected Africa is a stronger Africa,” he said, stressing the economic and cultural benefits of continental integration.

The delegation will remain in Botswana until October 1 before continuing its journey through Southern Africa. For entrepreneurs and investors, the campaign highlights the practical value of policies that make it easier for people, goods, and services to move across borders. With tourism standing as a pillar of Botswana’s economy, greater regional accessibility could provide a competitive edge for local businesses seeking to attract and serve new markets.

The campaign’s arrival serves as both a symbolic and practical reminder: integration is not only about unity but also about unlocking opportunities for African businesses.
