BDC Explores Investment Opportunities in Lobatse to Boost Local Value Chains. The Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) hosted a high-level meet-and-greet session in Lobatse, bringing together key government and municipal officials alongside BDC leadership to explore investment opportunities and strategies for local economic growth.

Attendees included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Joel Ramaphoi, BDC Managing Director Mr. Oteng Keabetswe, Chief Risk Officer Mr. Botshelo Mokotedi, Head of Corporate Affairs Ms. Boitshwarelo Lebang-Kgetse, Deputy Mayor Mr. Legodile Mothibi, District Commissioner Mr. Mpho Mathe, and Acting Lobatse Town Clerk Ms. Nonofo Tsedi.

The dialogue centred on value chain development across key sectors and the importance of sustainable partnerships to attract private sector investment while unlocking Lobatse’s economic potential.

As part of the engagement, the delegation visited three strategic BDC projects demonstrating opportunities for industrial growth and local business support:

Milk Valley Farm – The dairy-focused farm presents significant potential for value chain integration, covering production, processing, packaging, distribution, and retail. The initiative also supports backward linkages with local feed producers, input suppliers, and smallholder farmers, generating jobs and fostering economic ripple effects.

Delta Automotive Technologies – Positioned within Botswana’s industrial and manufacturing sector, the project encourages skills development, innovation, and import substitution, while offering opportunities for regional market integration.

Lobatse Clay Works – As a key contributor to the construction value chain, the company supplies clay-based building materials for local infrastructure projects, supports employment, and strengthens synergies with downstream construction and real estate sectors.

These projects collectively highlight BDC’s commitment to driving industrialisation, empowering local businesses, and contributing to economic transformation in Lobatse and the wider region. The engagements underscore the critical role of strategic investments in building sustainable, competitive, and resilient value chains.
