BTO Champions Collaboration at Inaugural Creatives Industry Summit. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) took an active role in the inaugural Creatives Industry Summit, which officially opened this morning at the National Museum and Art Gallery. The event was officiated by the Minister of Sport and Arts, Honourable Jacob Kelebeng, and organised by the Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA) under the theme “Building a Just, Integrated and Diversified Economy for Creatives.”

The summit brought together policymakers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to address challenges and opportunities within Botswana’s growing creative economy. Discussions explored the potential of the sector to contribute to economic diversification, job creation, and sustainable growth.

Representing BTO, Acting Marketing Manager – Products and Events, Mr. Tadiwa Mosweu, joined a panel on Partnerships and Sponsorships for the Creative Sector. He highlighted the organisation’s structured approach to evaluating partnership requests, focusing on socio-economic impact and alignment with BTO’s mandate. Mosweu stressed that meaningful collaboration between tourism and the creative sector could generate significant benefits, from boosting local event visibility to attracting international audiences.

Also in attendance was BTO Board Member, Ms. Lorato Kwelagobe, who reiterated the organisation’s commitment to supporting initiatives that integrate creativity with tourism. Her presence reinforced the importance of cultivating platforms where cultural expression meets economic opportunity.

For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and creative businesses, the summit underscored the importance of forging stronger ties with institutional partners such as BTO. With tourism and the creative industries often overlapping, the event highlighted clear pathways for partnerships that can expand markets, create new revenue streams, and strengthen Botswana’s global brand.
