President Boko Highlights Tourism-Aviation Link at Aviation Pitso 2025. President Advocate Duma Boko underscored the critical link between aviation and tourism during his visit to the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) stall at the opening of Aviation Pitso 2025, held yesterday.
In his engagement with the BTO team, President Boko emphasized that air access remains a key driver in facilitating travel to Botswana, noting its importance in unlocking the country’s tourism potential and supporting wider economic diversification. He further highlighted the value of progressive policy measures, including initiatives such as visa-free access, to strengthen inbound tourism numbers and make Botswana more accessible to international visitors.
BTO’s participation at Aviation Pitso 2025 reflects its broad mandate, which covers destination marketing, tourism facility grading and classification, investment promotion, and product development. The organisation continues to position Botswana as a competitive global destination, aligning its efforts with the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) to ensure that air access supports tourism growth.
The Aviation Pitso serves as a key platform for dialogue between government, industry, and stakeholders, exploring strategies to enhance aviation infrastructure and services while reinforcing their role in national development. For the tourism sector, strengthened air links are expected to provide new opportunities for investment, job creation, and expanded market reach.
President Boko’s remarks reaffirmed the government’s recognition of tourism as a strategic sector in Botswana’s growth agenda. His visit to the BTO stall further highlighted the importance of collaboration between aviation and tourism stakeholders in ensuring the sector’s sustainable contribution to the economy.
