Botswana Tourism Organisation Deepens Regional Collaboration with EEswatini. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has reaffirmed its commitment to regional tourism growth by participating in the inaugural Tourism Nkwe event hosted in Eswatini from 20–22 August 2025. Represented by Grading Manager Ms. Joyce Morontshe, BTO joined the Eswatini Tourism Authority and the Hospitality & Tourism Association of Eswatini in a three-day programme aimed at elevating collaboration and dialogue within the Southern African tourism sector.

The event featured a Tourism Nkwe Golf Day at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, inaugurated by Eswatini’s Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ms. Jane Mkhonta, who stressed the importance of collaboration in strengthening the tourism industry. The following day, the Tourism Nkwe Indaba was officially opened by Eswatini’s Prime Minister, Hon. Russell Dlamini, who emphasized that building a strong tourism sector requires the collective effort of governments, the private sector, and regional partners.

For Botswana entrepreneurs in the hospitality and tourism value chain, BTO’s engagement signals new opportunities. The collaboration sets the stage for increased cross-border travel, joint destination marketing, and a focus on quality assurance standards that enhance visitor confidence. With travellers increasingly seeking multi-country experiences, Botswana businesses stand to benefit from packages that integrate regional destinations.

This partnership builds on earlier initiatives, including Eswatini’s participation in the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum hosted in Botswana last year, where both countries committed to strengthening regional tourism competitiveness. In March 2025, BTO also conducted a benchmarking visit to Eswatini focused on quality standards in the sector.

The ongoing engagements will culminate in a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Botswana and Eswatini, prioritising areas such as quality assurance, ecotourism development, and joint marketing—all designed to unlock greater economic opportunities for both nations.
