Botswana Companies Required to Submit Constitutions for Global Compliance. The Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) has announced that all companies in Botswana are now required to submit a constitution as part of efforts to align the country with international anti-money laundering standards.

A standard template has been made available on CIPA’s official website to guide businesses in preparing and submitting their constitutions. The submission carries a one-time fee of P500, which applies to all company types. Once submitted, the constitution will remain valid for the lifetime of the company, provided no changes are made.

The move is part of Botswana’s commitment to enhancing transparency and accountability in its business environment. By complying with global anti-money laundering regulations, the country aims to strengthen its standing in international financial markets, improve investor confidence, and create a more secure and trustworthy platform for economic growth.

CIPA has set the deadline for submission at 19 March 2026, giving companies ample time to prepare. Entrepreneurs and business owners are encouraged to use the provided template to ensure accuracy and compliance.

For businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this requirement represents both a responsibility and an opportunity. Beyond meeting regulatory obligations, the constitution will provide a clear framework for company operations, governance, and decision-making, helping to reduce disputes and streamline business processes.
