Botswana Tech Summit 2025 Calls on Entrepreneurs to Build the Nation’s Digital Future. The Botswana Tech Summit 2025 has reinforced the critical role of technology in driving economic growth and diversifying the nation’s economy. Held under the theme “Technology. People. Development,” the event brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to chart Botswana’s digital trajectory.

Vice President Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, officiating the summit, highlighted the urgent need for economic transformation. He cautioned that the country’s heavy reliance on diamond exports is no longer sustainable due to a slowdown in global diamond sales. Instead, he emphasised that Botswana’s future lies online, driven by the creativity and determination of young people, coders, digital creators, and innovators.

To support this shift, Gaolathe announced that the government is expanding high-speed internet infrastructure to reach more than 80% of the population. This connectivity is expected to open new opportunities for e-commerce, digital services, and online marketing. Entrepreneurs were urged to leverage the improved infrastructure to sell products and services across Southern Africa, from traditional crafts to agricultural produce.

For Botswana’s business community, the summit was a call to action to adopt digital tools, develop technology-driven enterprises, and explore new revenue streams beyond traditional sectors.
