CIPA Urges Businesses to Finalise Annual Returns by August 10 Deadline. The Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) has issued a final reminder to all registered businesses in Botswana to submit their annual returns and renewals before the strict deadline of Saturday, 10 August 2025.
In a notice aimed particularly at local entrepreneurs, SMEs, and corporate entities, CIPA emphasized that both payment and online filing must be completed before the cut-off. Failing to do so will result in the company being automatically removed from the register, regardless of whether one part of the process has been completed.
To make compliance easier, CIPA recommends using its online system, which accepts direct bank card payments — the fastest and most secure method to ensure same-day processing.
Businesses choosing to deposit funds into the CIPA bank account via FNB are urged to do so before 12:00 p.m. on Friday, 9 August, to allow sufficient time for the transaction to reflect. Deposits made from any other bank are strongly discouraged, as interbank transfers may not clear in time, putting the company at risk of deregistration.
This deadline holds critical importance for Botswana’s business community. A lapse in renewal not only affects compliance but can also disrupt trade, access to financing, and the company’s legal standing.
