CIPA Urges Businesses to Double-Check OBRS Payment Details to Avoid Errors. The Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) has issued a public notice to all businesses and service providers using its Online Business Registration System (OBRS), urging them to carefully review payment details before completing transactions, particularly for annual return submissions.

The announcement follows a noticeable increase in cases where clients mistakenly make payments for incorrect services on the OBRS platform. CIPA emphasized that while the system displays a summary of the service and the corresponding amount before payment, users often proceed without verifying the information, leading to unnecessary delays and administrative complications.

“Before confirming any transaction, clients should carefully review the service description and amount due as displayed on the payment screen,” the Authority said in the notice.

To assist users in avoiding such mistakes, CIPA has provided multiple support options. Customers uncertain about the transaction process are encouraged to send a screenshot of the payment screen to info@cipa.co.bw, or reach out via WhatsApp at 73263804. Additionally, clients are reminded that they may consult their Company Secretaries for support in managing OBRS-related processes.

For entrepreneurs, small business owners, and corporate service providers, this serves as a timely reminder to ensure accuracy and vigilance when handling regulatory payments online. Mistaken payments can result in processing delays, missed compliance deadlines, and additional administrative costs.

CIPA reiterated its commitment to improving the user experience on the OBRS and ensuring smooth digital service delivery for Botswana’s business community.
