Acting President Gaolathe Urges CEOs to Prioritize Execution in Economic Transformation Drive. Acting President Ndaba Gaolathe met with Botswana’s leading CEOs on Friday in a high-level engagement aimed at accelerating the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme. The session marked a pivotal moment in aligning the private sector with government’s renewed focus on rapid implementation and measurable outcomes.

Speaking to the assembled executives, Mr. Gaolathe emphasized that the time for planning had passed, and that the country must now focus on delivery. “We must shift from ambition to execution,” he said, calling for a unified, action-oriented partnership between government and the business community.

The Acting President outlined a 12-week performance window during which key deliverables will be pursued, signaling a new urgency in the national economic agenda. The initiative aims to unlock growth by improving the investment climate, streamlining regulation, and addressing constraints that limit private sector participation in key industries.

Business leaders were encouraged to actively contribute ideas, identify bottlenecks, and propose reforms that can improve productivity and drive job creation. The government, in turn, committed to providing consistent feedback and removing roadblocks that hinder progress.

The engagement forms part of a broader strategy to transform Botswana’s economy through inclusive growth, digital innovation, and sector diversification. For local entrepreneurs and corporates alike, the message was clear: execution, not intention, will define the next chapter of Botswana’s development.

This direct engagement between the highest levels of government and private sector leadership sets the tone for a more agile, collaborative approach to economic transformation—one where accountability and outcomes take center stage.
