President Boko Visits BTO Stall at Ghanzi Show 2025, Sparks Talks on Regional Tourism Development. The 2025 Ghanzi Show welcomed a notable guest this year as President Advocate Duma Boko visited the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) exhibition stall. His presence highlighted the national importance of tourism and cultural events in driving economic growth across Botswana’s regions.
During the visit, President Boko engaged directly with local tourism operators represented under the BTO banner. The discussions underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. The interactions provided operators an opportunity to showcase their services and ideas while emphasising the critical role of tourism in local development.
Following his visit to the BTO stall, President Boko proceeded to the Horse Race Track—an integral part of the Ghanzi Show that celebrates the area’s cultural heritage. At the track, he was welcomed by BTO Board Member and Chairperson of the Investment Committee, Mr Kabo Motswagole, as well as BTO Chief Executive Officer, Ms Keitumetse Setlang.
In a short but significant conversation held track-side, the potential for developing a dedicated racecourse in the Ghanzi area was discussed. Such an investment, if pursued, could strengthen Ghanzi’s tourism appeal and serve as a catalyst for increased visitor activity, regional branding, and broader economic benefits.
The President’s participation in the show and his engagement with sector leaders sent a strong message of support to tourism operators, especially those in rural areas. For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and tourism-focused businesses, the visit offered reassurance that government is willing to explore innovative avenues to grow and diversify the economy.
