The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), in partnership with Stanbic Bank Botswana, proudly hosted the 2025 BSE Stanbic Bank National Finance & Investment Competition Awards Ceremony today at the BSE headquarters. This annual initiative continues to champion financial literacy, investment knowledge, and excellence among Botswana’s youth.
The event brought together key stakeholders from the capital markets ecosystem, members of the media, and the public. Delivering the welcome address, BSE’s Head of Market Development, Ms. Thapelo Moribame, commended participants for their impressive understanding of financial principles showcased through the BSE Stanbic Bank Stock Market Simulator. She reaffirmed the Exchange’s unwavering commitment to empowering young people through financial education.
Speaking on behalf of Stanbic Bank Botswana, the event’s official sponsor, Ms. Realeboga Phoi—Chief Finance and Value Management Officer—praised the initiative for inspiring the next generation of investors. She emphasized the strong alignment between Stanbic’s purpose-led approach to financial literacy and the Competition’s mission to foster informed, future-ready youth.
A standout moment of the ceremony was a panel discussion moderated by Ms. Angel Gabobegwe, Market Development Assistant at the BSE. Featuring the top three winners, the session gave students an opportunity to reflect on their strategies, share their experience using the stock market simulator, and offer insights on what they’ve learned about financial planning and long-term wealth creation.
Following the discussion, awards were officially presented by Ms. Moribame and Mr. Mmoloki Letshwao, Head of Risk at Stanbic Bank Botswana. The top achievers were:
- 1st Place: Ms. Khanson Enock – P7,500 share voucher
- 2nd Place: Mr. Golesedi Monngakgotla – P5,000 share voucher
- 3rd Place: Ms. Loretta Moalosi – P2,500 share voucher
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic ringing of the bell, formally welcoming the students into Botswana’s capital markets community. This was followed by a photo session with the winners.
Closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Mpho Mogasha, Head of Finance and Administration at the BSE. She highlighted the critical role of financial literacy in building a sustainable economy and extended appreciation to Stanbic Bank Botswana for their steadfast support of this national initiative.
The proceedings were expertly guided by Mr. Kgotla Segwe, Market Development Specialist at the BSE.
