The Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub (BDIH) has officially announced the appointment of its new Board of Directors—a powerhouse team of professionals who bring a wealth of experience across digital transformation, legal strategy, corporate governance, human resources, and innovation management.
This exciting development comes at a critical time when Botswana is rapidly positioning itself as a regional leader in digital innovation and entrepreneurship. The new board is expected to steer BDIH’s vision of empowering local innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to build solutions that impact the nation and beyond.
Meet the New Board Members
Ikanyeng Molemele – Board Chairperson
An ICT consultant with an impressive international track record, Ms. Molemele has led high-level tech initiatives in the UK and Botswana. Her experience spans IT governance, enterprise service management, and change management. She has worked with major organisations including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Vodafone, Huawei, the London 2012 Olympics, and the National Development Bank of Botswana. With a Master’s in Organisational Change Management and multiple certifications in ITIL, AI, and governance, she is well-positioned to lead BDIH into a future driven by strategic digital growth.
Angel Setumo
Currently Group Head of Innovation at Letshego Africa, Ms. Setumo brings deep experience in digital transformation across 11 African markets. A seasoned fintech and innovation leader, she holds a Chartered Banker MBA and has a strong background in product management, data-driven strategy, and agile execution. Her work has empowered underserved communities and catalysed financial inclusion through tech partnerships and scalable digital platforms.
Ogone Mothooagae
Founder and CEO of Stencil Technologies, Mr. Mothooagae is a leading voice in Africa’s tech ecosystem. His career spans leadership roles at Accenture and Adapt IT Group, as well as board positions at Access Bank Botswana, Botswana Railways, and the Botswana Stock Exchange. With a software engineering degree from the University of Manchester and a recent graduation from Stanford’s Seed Transformation Program, his vision for the Hub includes embracing frontier technologies like Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
Evelyn Disele
Ms. Disele brings over 20 years of experience in human resource leadership within Botswana’s public and parastatal sectors. Formerly HR Director at Water Utilities Corporation, she has also served on the boards of Botswana Medical Aid Society and WUC Pension Fund. Recognized as one of Botswana’s Top 100 HR Leaders, she brings expertise in organisational development, governance, and digital business fundamentals.
Dr. Lesego Sekwati
A renowned economist and academic, Dr. Sekwati has served as Head of the Economics Department at the University of Botswana and sits on several high-level academic boards across Africa. His deep knowledge of economic policy and research will provide strategic oversight to ensure BDIH initiatives are grounded in rigorous economic thinking and national development priorities.
Lucky Matseka
As a certified Balanced Scorecard Master Professional, Mr. Matseka has built a career in strategic planning, performance monitoring, and risk management. He currently works at the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) and Mintway Consultancy, helping organisations align strategy with measurable impact. His analytical approach and public sector experience will be key to institutional strengthening at BDIH.
Bontle Eleng Mugabe
A partner at Desai Law Group and a leading corporate attorney, Ms. Mugabe brings extensive legal experience in M&A, capital markets, infrastructure development, and corporate governance. She has advised global investors and local boards, and is a recognised legal talent in Africa, ranked by Chambers Global and IFLR1000. Her governance expertise will help BDIH navigate complex legal environments while supporting emerging tech enterprises.
