President Boko Urges Shift to Tech-Driven Education to Boost Jobs and Entrepreneurship. President Advocate Duma Boko has called for an urgent transformation of Botswana’s education system, urging stakeholders to embrace technology as a driver of progress and economic inclusion. Addressing delegates at a national education forum, President Boko underscored the need to modernize both the content and delivery of education to reflect 21st-century realities.

Framing education reform as a national imperative, the President noted that the country must tackle structural challenges like unemployment through innovation, skills development, and a new mindset geared toward production and entrepreneurship. “This calls us to think of innovative ways to build a production-led economy, to strive for social mobility, and to nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship,” he emphasized.

For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and businesses, the message signals stronger government focus on creating a workforce that is better aligned with the demands of the digital economy.

Minister of Higher Education, Prince Maele, echoed this sentiment in his welcome remarks, announcing that the government has renewed its commitment to revamp Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The call for a technology-integrated education system is expected to create opportunities for local entrepreneurs in edtech, digital infrastructure, skills training, and content creation—areas poised for growth in the evolving education sector.
