Fountain Butchery Fined for Breaching Trade License Conditions in Kweneng. Mokate Holdings (PTY) Ltd, trading as Fountain Butchery, has been fined P500.00 for violating the terms of its trade license in the Kweneng District. The fine was issued after the butchery was found selling fizzy drinks, an item not covered under its Butchery/Fresh Produce license category.

Authorities confirmed the penalty as part of ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with the Trade Act and its regulations, which govern what goods may be sold under specific license classifications. Under current guidelines, businesses operating with a butchery license are authorised to sell meat and fresh produce—but not beverages, including carbonated drinks.

The inspection that led to the fine was part of routine checks aimed at ensuring businesses in the district adhere strictly to licensing terms to promote fair competition and protect consumer interests.

Trade officials in the Kweneng District have urged all business owners to visit their local council offices or relevant licensing departments if they wish to expand or modify their product offerings. They emphasised that applying for the correct license classification is essential for maintaining legal compliance and avoiding disruptions to operations.
