President Boko Urges SOE Leaders to Embrace Innovation and Build Adaptive Business Culture. President Duma Gideon Boko has called on Chief Executive Officers of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and parastatals to lead with agility, innovation, and a commitment to national impact. Addressing executives during a high-level meeting, President Boko laid out his roadmap for reform, urging SOE leaders to create a flexible, technology-driven business environment aligned with modern economic realities.

The President emphasised the critical role SOEs play in shaping Botswana’s economic future, and challenged executives to become enablers of opportunity for the country’s entrepreneurs, youth, and emerging industries. He pointed to the need for improved service delivery, digital transformation, and business models that support private sector growth.

In line with these objectives, the Office of the President announced the upcoming establishment of a Delivery Unit tasked with monitoring and evaluation. The unit will identify implementation bottlenecks and provide early detection of challenges within public institutions and strategic projects.

For Botswana’s business community, the President’s message signals a strong shift toward accountability, efficiency, and performance-driven leadership within the public sector. Entrepreneurs and small businesses stand to benefit from more responsive and collaborative state institutions, particularly in areas like procurement, innovation partnerships, and infrastructure development.
