PSDRF Ceremony Highlights Over P15 Million Raised for National Relief and Preparedness. The Private Sector Disaster Response Fund (PSDRF) marked a major milestone at a cheque handover and status update ceremony held on 18 June 2025 at Cresta Lodge. The event celebrated more than P15 million raised to support Botswana’s national disaster response and long-term resilience, including P9.7 million in cash contributions.

Established to unite private sector efforts in times of crisis, the PSDRF has already begun to channel funds into impactful projects across the country. These include pothole repairs in Gaborone, enhanced malaria response initiatives, and assistance for vulnerable families. The fund continues to serve as a critical bridge between the business community and national disaster management efforts.

The event was attended by high-level stakeholders including the Minister of State President, Honourable Moeti Mhwasa; Business Botswana President, Mr. Neo Nwako; and PSDRF Chairperson, Mr. Butler Phirie. Several corporate donors were also recognized for their support, including Sandfire, FNB, NMG, and Western Furniture.

The PSDRF initiative reflects a growing culture of public-private collaboration in Botswana, with businesses actively participating in national efforts to safeguard communities and build resilience.
