De Beers Showcases Diamonds at Future of Mining Summit 2025 in Gaborone. Global diamond leader De Beers brought sparkle and industry insight to the Future of Mining Summit 2025, held from 16 to 17 June at Boipuso Hall in Gaborone. As a key sponsor of the summit, the company hosted a dedicated diamond exhibition at Ditshupo Hall, offering delegates a rare opportunity to view stones sourced from four countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Canada, and South Africa.

The exhibition drew the attention of entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders across the mining and manufacturing value chains. For Botswana’s business community, especially those exploring opportunities in beneficiation, jewellery design, and mining services, the display offered a tangible look at the potential of local natural resources.

De Beers, which co-owns Debswana Diamond Company in a 50/50 partnership with the Government of Botswana, remains a significant contributor to the national economy and a key player in the diamond industry’s evolution.

The showcase highlighted not just the quality and diversity of diamonds, but also the role Botswana continues to play in the global diamond supply chain. For local entrepreneurs, the summit was a reminder of opportunities beyond extraction — such as value addition, branding, and downstream services.

The Future of Mining Summit 2025 brought together leaders from across the region to explore innovation, sustainability, and new partnerships in mining. De Beers’ participation underscored its commitment to local engagement and collaboration.
