Fashion Entrepreneur in Tsetsebjwe Grows Business Through AWOME Support. Ms. Godiraone Makwati, founder of Amak Creations in Tsetsebjwe village, recently welcomed a visit from Team MYGA to review her progress following her participation in the AWOME (Accelerating Women-Owned Micro-Enterprises) training programme.

The visit formed part of an ongoing monitoring initiative led by Mrs. Lydia Mafhoko-Ditsa, who coordinates the AWOME project in the area. The programme aims to strengthen women-led businesses through practical training in entrepreneurship.

Ms. Makwati noted that the training has had a positive impact on her fashion business. While she continues to navigate seasonal demand for her products, she reported an overall increase in sales since completing the programme.

She highlighted the Costing Module as especially valuable. It helped her better understand how to factor in indirect costs—like transport expenses from sourcing materials in South Africa—allowing her to set more sustainable and accurate prices.

As her business has grown, Ms. Makwati has taken on an assistant who receives a regular salary and extra earnings from repair work. She views this not only as business growth but also as an opportunity to support others.

Her community engagement extends beyond employment. Ms. Makwati donates school uniforms and shoes to local children, shares pre-owned clothes from her child, and has assisted her employee with basic home improvements.

Looking ahead, she hopes to improve her business operations through better record keeping and a clearer marketing strategy. Expanding Amak Creations beyond Tsetsebjwe remains one of her key ambitions.
