In Botswana’s corporate landscape, leading a company can be extremely lucrative—especially if you’re steering a major brand. A new breakdown of CEO earnings reveals just how much Botswana’s top executives are taking home in both guaranteed salaries and performance-based bonuses. And let’s just say—these numbers are eye-opening.

At the top of the earnings chart is Sefalana’s CEO, C. Chauhan, whose total annual compensation reaches a staggering P15.9 million. With a guaranteed monthly salary of P450,000 and P10.5 million in performance bonuses, Chauhan leads the pack not just in base pay but in performance rewards as well.

Right behind him is K. Moshagane of ABSA, earning a total of P14.3 million per year. Her base salary of P433,000per month is impressive on its own, but it’s the P9.1 million in bonuses that really sets her apart—making her one of the most handsomely rewarded executives in Botswana’s banking sector.

In third place is C. Lesetedi of BIHL, pulling in P7.4 million annually. While her guaranteed monthly pay is P283,000, her performance bonus of P4 million shows that results matter just as much as the title.

R. Ottapathu of Choppies is next on the list, earning P6.8 million per year, almost entirely from a high monthly salary of P567,000. Notably, Choppies’ CEO doesn’t show additional bonus income, suggesting a pay structure more weighted towards guaranteed earnings.

S. Bogatsu of FNBB follows with a total pay of P6.3 million, comprised of a P252,000 monthly salary and bonuses adding up to roughly P3.3 million annually.

A. Monyatsi of Letshego also makes a strong showing with P4.9 million per year, mostly from a solid monthly salary of P408,000, though without reported bonus figures in this breakdown.

At the lower end of the list (though still significantly well-paid by general standards) are A. Masunga of BTC and C. Lesetedi of BIHL, both earning P3.4 million annually. Masunga has a monthly salary of P242,000, while Lesetedi’s P283,000 monthly base is bolstered by bonus incentives.

The key takeaway? Performance-based bonuses play a huge role in these earnings. CEOs like Chauhan and Moshagane are taking home far more in bonuses than in base salary—a clear sign that results-driven leadership is well-rewarded in Botswana’s top boardrooms.

As corporate Botswana continues to grow and evolve, so too does the scale of executive compensation. And for those at the very top, the payoff can be massive.
