Goldrich Peanuts: Sowa Town-Based Snack Producer Eyes National Expansion. Goldrich Peanuts, a locally owned snack manufacturing company based in Sowa Town, is making strides in Botswana’s food industry with its range of home-grown peanut-based snacks. Founded in 2022 by Laxon Chimedza, the company operates under Consolidated Food Industries and currently employs six skilled professionals in food manufacturing, innovation, and sales.
Specialising in the processing and packaging of groundnuts, Goldrich Peanuts offers a variety of snack options including salted peanuts, peanuts mixed with raisins, roasted corn, and a blend of roasted corn and peanuts. The company’s signature product line caters to both casual snackers and on-the-go consumers, available in 60g, 150g, and 450g packages.
Support from South African firm Roastech played a key role in helping Goldrich establish its operations in Botswana. Since its inception, the company has focused on sourcing raw materials locally and regionally—from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, and South Africa—ensuring a diverse and sustainable supply chain.
Currently, the company distributes its products through vendors, Save Rite outlets, filling stations, and general dealers. Goldrich Peanuts now aims to expand its footprint by reaching larger retail chains and making its products available nationwide.
With an eye on future growth, the company is looking to scale production and introduce new product variants. It also plans to continue promoting local sourcing and support for smallholder farmers.
