Tatsand Mining Services Expands Operations and Strengthens Industry Presence. Tatsand Mining Services, a youth-owned and female-led company based in Jwaneng, Botswana, is making significant strides in the mining sector. Specializing in machinery attachments, automotive services, and staff transportation, the company has expanded its operations following strategic mentorship from the Tokafala Program.
Founded by Tatenda Vimbe and led by CEO Sheri Gareikitse and CFO Tebogo Mpofu, Tatsand initially focused on automotive and transport services but faced challenges such as high overhead costs and market saturation. The company sought sustainable growth but struggled with cash flow management and securing contracts in a competitive industry.
Through the Tokafala Program, Tatsand gained business management, financial strategy, sales, and marketing expertise. This allowed the company to shift its focus to manufacturing machine parts for the mining, construction, agriculture, transport, and energy sectors. Seeing an opportunity to better serve the industry, Tatsand relocated from Gaborone to Jwaneng, positioning itself in a key mining hub.
The company’s transformation was further strengthened by securing an exclusive local dealership agreement with Machinery Contractors for manufacturing machinery attachments. This partnership significantly increased Tatsand’s revenue and reinforced its role as a vital player in the industry.
